Assessments Used
Limitless Learning provides nationally accredited testing that is necessary for determining if a student may have factors interfering with the learning process. Results are used to determine the student’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as his or her need for academic support and intervention. Each test can be administered without the other tests, however the most comprehensive understanding comes from the testing of all three. Limitless Learning provides the WJ-IV extended battery, GORT-5, and Informal Assessments to parse out exactly where the strengths and deficit areas present themselves. This is why Limitless Learning offers a bundled discounted rate for these tests of $905. Individual tests priced below.
The Woodcock Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities (WJ –IV COG)
The assessment is administered to assess intellectual functioning that gauges verbal and thinking abilities, short-term working memory, long term retrieval and processing speed. The results are reported in terms of Composite Scores, which compare the student with others in the similar age group. On the WJ-IV COG, the average range of standard scores falls between 90 and 110. The General Intellectual Ability (GIA) is derived from a combination of subtest scores and is considered the most representative estimate of intellectual functioning.
The scores derived from this assessment can be interpreted at different levels. Interpretation of performance can be based upon single tests and/or upon logical-empirical combinations of tests called clusters. Variations within groups of scores are evaluated to determine if any relative strengths and weaknesses exist. The wide age range and breadth of coverage allow the tests and clusters to be used educational, clinical, or research purposes from the preschool to geriatric level. This test can be used for the identification of students for gifted and talented programs as well as for student deficit areas. It can be used to diagnose Learning Disabilities, however, Limitless Learning does not diagnose.
The WJ-IV COG includes 18 tests for measuring general intellectual ability, broad and narrow cognitive abilities, academic domain-specific aptitudes, and related aspects of cognitive functioning. The assessment is individually administered. Graduate-level training in educational assessment and a background in diagnostic decision making are recommended. Only trained and knowledgeable professionals who are sensitive to the conditions that may compromise, or even invalidate, standardized test results should make interpretations and decision.Limitless Learning administers the extended battery of the WJ-IV COG for a more in depth look at the individual’s strengths and deficit areas.
Woodcock-Johnson IV Tests of Oral Language (WJ-IV OL)
The complete standard battery, as well as tests from the extended battery, are administered individually and used to assess academic performance. The areas measured include oral language, reading, writing, spelling, mathematics, listening comprehension, and phonological awareness. Individual subtest scores as well as composite scores are derived from assessments.
WJ-IV OL tests also function as a stand-alone battery of tests that are useful for oral language assessment, determination of English (and Spanish) language proficiency, and for comparison of strengths and weaknesses among oral language and language related abilities for a more complete reading, writing, or dyslexia evaluation. For example, the Segmentation test offers examiners a highly predictive three-part test for measuring critical reading-related skills involved in breaking works into parts and phonemes. This test complements the Sound Blending test that measures the counterpart skill of blending sounds into words. The WJ-IV OL also includes distinct clusters for evaluation of Listening Comprehension and Oral Expression.Limitless Learning administers the extended battery of the WJ-IV OL for a more in depth look at the individual’s strengths and deficit areas.
Woodcock-Johnson IV Tests of Achievement (WJ-IV ACH)
The WJ-IV ACH includes 20 tests for measuring four broad academic domains: reading, written language, mathematics, and academic knowledge. This test supports a broad range of diagnostic assessment needs for a wide variety of professionals to determine academic strengths and weaknesses. A comparison of achievement scores to academic knowledge can provide additional information to help determine if a more comprehensive evaluation should be considered. Eleven of the most frequently used achievement tests are included in the Standard Battery. Limitless Learning administers the extended battery of the WJ-IV ACH for a more in depth look at the individual’s strengths and deficit areas.
Gray Oral Reading Test - 5
The GORT-5 measures reading fluency and comprehension. The child answers questions based on passages that he reads aloud. Information about rate and accuracy is important because children who read slowly take longer to complete assignments and understand and remember less of what they have read.
The GORT-5 measures oral reading rate, accuracy, fluency, and comprehension. It also provides an Oral Reading Index, a combined measure of fluency and comprehension.
